Often we buy plants that are in bloom at the start of the growing season. By late August, color may be lacking. Take a trip to your local nursery to pick out plants that will give you late summer and early autumn bloom.
Our favorites? Sedums and coneflowers. Their bloom times and color contrast make for an excellent pairing. Keep in mind that new plants need consistent watering to establish strong root systems.
Sedum blooms as coneflower’s petals begin to drop, making them perfect planting companions.
