Commonly asked questions.

Landscape Construction & Concrete

Yes. Our initial meeting lasts about 30-90 minutes, depending on the size and scope of your project. After learning about your desired project and preferences, and taking any necessary measurements, we put together an estimate that line itemizes all aspects of your project. Taking into account our initial meeting, calls to vendors regarding material costs, entering the information and pricing on paper, and the time for its final review process, it’s not uncommon for an estimate to take 10-20 hours of our time. If another site visit is required, or the estimating process exceeds our typical amount of time, we charge a fee that would go toward your project price, if you choose to work with us.

How do I get on your schedule?

If you’re ready to move forward with your project, we require you to sign the estimate and make a 10% non-refundable deposit payment that is applied to your project cost. You can email the signed estimate back to us (scan it or simply take a photo of it), or fax it to 360-633-1641. If mail is preferable, feel free to mail the signed estimate to the address on the estimate. Thanks for choosing our company!

What method of payment do you accept?

We accept personal, business and cashier’s checks, and checks via your bank’s bill pay system. Payment by debit or credit card is subject to a 2% card processing fee. This fee is waived for our maintenance clients’ monthly fee.

How long will it take to receive my estimate?

Our estimators also manage projects in the field. Because of this and the time it takes to hear back from vendors, our estimates can take 2-3 weeks, depending on the time of year. Although it may take us a little longer than other contractors to get our estimate to you, we feel confident that you’ll be pleased with the descriptive detail outlined on our estimates.

Do we offer design services?

Yes. Our approach to landscape design is to provide an estimate for landscape installation after an initial estimate appointment. During that appointment, we walk through the property with homeowners and discuss their ideas or desired landscape features they have in mind. Once an estimate is authorized, our design process is somewhat organic and informal, and includes spray painting the site to give clients an idea of where certain features would go. If there are plants and plant design as part of the project, we’ll work with you one-on-one to come up with a plant palette that suits your preferences and budget.

If you desire a to-scale plan on paper, we recommend Emily Russell Landscape Architecture. Emily offers architect plans or less costly, yet still effective, bubble diagrams. Here’s one of our favorite projects we’ve installed from her design.

Another local landscape designer and certified horticulturist we recommend is Megan Pulkkinen. Megan offers to-scale design plans and hourly rates for plant and design consultation. We installed this project working from Megan’s design.

Commercial, HOA & Residential Maintenance

Do you offer an organic lawn care or landscape maintenance program?

Yes. If sites are within 150’ of the water, we cannot use traditional chemicals as part of our maintenance program. We use an organic pre-emergent herbicide along with organic post-emergent herbicides, primarily horticultural grade vinegar at this time. More labor is generally required for organic weed control, and depending upon your site’s conditions, small weeds may sprout faster than our ability to maintain them during peak growth months. Organic landscape maintenance is recommended for sites close to native green belt areas, or sites that attract wildlife and pollinators.

Can you service my site temporarily?

We do not offer temporary lawn and landscape maintenance services. We offer 12-month programs, visiting either weekly or every other week (bi-weekly) during the growing season. This business model is mutually beneficial for us and our clients as the pro-rated cost of our service is the same each month and makes our monthly bill more affordable.

I want you to know that I, as a member of the board and as a resident at Stonecress, I am supremely appreciative of your work, your efforts and your communication. Thank you for your attention.
