Decorative Concrete

The possibilities are endless with decorative & stamped concrete.

KITSAP COUNTY WA CONCRETE

Concrete patios, pathways, and driveways provide functional spaces for you to make the most of the areas surrounding your home. Concrete is typically more cost effective than other materials such as flagstone or pavers, and also more durable.

CUSTOMIZE YOUR CONCRETE

We offer three finishes to complement your property’s unique aesthetic and feel, including broom finish, exposed aggregate, and stamped concrete. Options range from basic to decorative.

Coloring your concrete takes your concrete to the next level and two options are available. Integral color is color added to the concrete mix, resulting in one solid color throughout your patio, walkway or driveway, visible at the time your concrete is poured and finished. Post coloring your concrete is done after your concrete has cured for at least two weeks, and allows for more versatility as different color stains can be used.

Adding a border to your concrete results in a more dynamic design statement.

WE FOCUS ON HIGH QUALITY

During our initial consultation, we listen to your ideas to ensure that we create an end product that’s aesthetically pleasing and meets your needs and budget.

Our aim is to construct a stamped concrete patio or concrete driveway that is durable, despite daily use and constant exposure to the elements. This begins with our prep work. We establish our sub-grade, slope it for proper drainage and compact it. We spread and compact a gravel base, and ensure that your concrete slab is the same thickness throughout. These important steps are taken to mitigate settling, heaving and cracking.

We highly recommend sealing your concrete to protect it from stains, damage, and aging.

BROOM FINISH CONCRETE

Broom finish – also referred to as brushed finish – is the most basic option of the three finishes we offer. Since it’s the less labor intensive, it’s also the least expensive. Broom finish simply involves pulling a purpose-made broom over the surface of the fresh concrete, once the concrete has been leveled. The resulting texture varies depending on the hardness or softness of the broom that’s used. A hard or stiff broom results in a coarser texture, while a softer broom achieves a lighter texture. The texture, in turn, determines what kind of traction the finish will give, an important factor we consider when constructing a concrete driveway.

EXPOSED AGGREGATE CONCRETE

Exposed aggregate concrete is a common finish for sidewalks, walkways and driveways. The concrete mix used for this finish contains a specific amount and type of aggregate such as pea gravel. After the concrete has initially set, the exposed aggregate surface is revealed through a process that involves washing away the surface of the concrete with brooms and a water hose. Washing away the top layer of concrete exposes the internal aggregates of the concrete mix, hence the term “exposed aggregate.” Exposed aggregate is less expensive than stamped concrete as it requires less tools and labor, and more decorative than a basic broom finish.

DECORATIVE STAMPED CONCRETE

Stamped concrete, or decorative concrete, offers the most customization options in terms of style and color. Stamped concrete replicates the patterns of materials such as flagstone, tile, brick and even wood. Because of this, a stamped concrete patio or driveway can have an artistic appeal. Stamping concrete is done by laying mats with the chosen pattern in a considered and efficient manner, and tamping the mats after they are placed so that the concrete is imprinted with the pattern. Borders add an extra dimension, and color can be added to the concrete mix or applied after the concrete has been given time to cure. We also offer custom colored compass medallions to make your decorative concrete stand out from the rest.
